John Freeman

John Swindell Freeman  John Freeman, born the first day of the first month, in 1987, has strived to “come in first” in all that he has done since.  John began his racing career at the age of 11 when he was invited by Humpy Wheeler to race in the inaugural Bandolero race.  After three successful years in this series, he moved up to the Legends Division. In 2001 and 2002 he placed top 5 in the nationally televised Lowe’s Motor Speedway Summer Shootout Series. In 2003, John won this points championship with two feature wins and seven top four finishes out of the 10 race series.  In 2004, being a rookie in the Thunder Roadster Division, John won the Lowe’s Motor Speedway Summer Shoot Points Championship again.  He also won the Lowes Motor Speedway’s Red, White, and Blue Championship, the North Carolina State Thunder Roadster Championship as well as participating in the Red Bull Driver Search.  2005 was an impressive year for John as he moved up to Late Model Stock cars.  He ran in the NASCAR Dodge Late Model Series at Concord Motorsports Park.  There he brought home three top five finishes and 17 top 10’s in 20 races as well as earning five pole awards.  In 2006, John once again made a step up, this time looking towards the NASCAR Bush East Series.  There he drove for the #5 Vermont based entry, Motion Racing, and finished out the season with the Fitz-Bradshaw #22 entry sponsored by Supercuts.  Together, the teams brought home two top-10 finishes and qualified for and finished 11th in the highly prestigious Toyota All Star Show-down at Irwindale Speedway.  In 2007, John ran a limited schedule in the NASCAR Busch East Series where he had a competitive season highlighted by impressive runs at his favorite tracks, Dover and NHIS.  He also was invited to and competed in a 24hour Kart event in LaMans, France.  In 2008, due to lack of funding, John was unable to compete at his current level.  However, to keep his skills honed he found himself bringing home a win at the 24 hours of America Karting event.  He also enjoyed competing in the 24 hours Lemon race and various SCCA events.   This year, 2009, John is honored to be invited to be a participant in the Humpy’s Heroes Driver Development Program. In this program he is very excited to work with “the best of the best” as he learns important skills needed to excel in the racing community.  John hopes to have the opportunity to showcase his talent both on and off the track.  2009 will be an important year, both learning and competing, as he attempts to continue his drive towards the top, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, his dream.
